One of the most important aspects of being a teacher is assessment. Assessments, whether formative or summative, are integral to effective teaching practices. As teachers, there are countless items on our To Do Lists, and often, the collection and analysis of classroom data is timely and easily neglected. Here to the rescue is Quick Key! Simply put, Quick Key is like the familiar Scantron test forms used throughout colleges. Unlike Scantron, Quick Key does not require any fancy forms (or even a number 2 pencil!), and as long as you have a smartphone, you are capable of quickly collecting and analyzing assessment data in your classroom. In order to get started, follow the short tutorial below!
1. Access the Quick Key website (or app on your phone). Click on "Teachers" on the homepage, and follow the "Sign up for Free" prompt.
3. From the your account homepage, the main menu options are to Create your Quiz (Multiple Choice or Standard Quiz Format), Create a Class (which allows you to easily attach student data to specific students or classes), Create a Student (if you need to create a single student), or Run Report (which will be your data analysis tool).
4. When creating a quiz, there are 3 simple steps. First, name the quiz and assign it to students or classes you have previously created. Second, create your test questions and identify correct responses. Third, distribute your quiz by printing it out or sending to student's emails.


5. Using the Report option will allow you to generate reports that show student responses, general trends in responses or response trends over time.
Through utilizing Quick Key to create digital quizzes for your students, much of the heavy lifting of analyzing data is done through the application. By utilizing this tool, you will have more time for instruction and lesson planning and will not have to spend hours creating or analyzing your data!
